Dewline Privacy Policy

Last updated 17 October 2026

Dewline is a weather app made by SugarApps. This policy explains what information the app uses, why it needs it, who it goes to, and the choices you have.

Location

If you allow it, Dewline reads your device's location (precise or approximate, your choice) while you use the app. Alerts checked in the background use the last location the app saw; it never asks for background location permission.

Your coordinates are sent to our weather providers only to fetch forecasts, air quality, pollen and radar for that spot: OpenWeather, Open-Meteo, RainViewer and, where available, Apple WeatherKit. City searches go to OpenWeather's place search.

We don't run servers that store your location, we don't keep a location history, and your location is never used for advertising or sold. You can turn location off at any time and search for a city instead.

What stays on your device

Your saved places, settings, the last weather shown (for widgets), and the notifications you received in the past 7 days are stored only on your device. Uninstalling the app or clearing its data removes them. On Android they are also left out of device backups.

Notifications

Rain, severe-weather, air-quality alerts and the morning briefing are worked out on your device from the latest forecast. They need your permission, and each one can be turned off in Settings.

Advertising

The free version shows ads from Google AdMob and, on Android, its mediation partner Unity Ads. To show, measure and limit ads, these services may collect your device's advertising ID, IP address, device and app information, and how you interact with ads.

On iPhone and iPad, Dewline asks through Apple's tracking prompt before it uses your advertising identifier. If you say no, or turn tracking off in Settings › Privacy & Security › Tracking, ads can still appear but are not matched to your identifier.

In the EEA, the UK and Switzerland we ask for your consent before any ad loads, and you can change your choice in Settings › Privacy choices. On Android you can reset or delete your advertising ID in your device settings. Dewline Pro (and, on Android, the older "Remove ads" purchase) turns all ads off.

Analytics and crash reports

On Android we use Google Firebase Analytics and Crashlytics to understand which features are used and to fix crashes. They collect app events, device model, operating system, crash details and a random installation ID. This is not linked to your name or contact details.

The iPhone and iPad app has no analytics or crash-reporting tools of its own.

Purchases

Purchases and subscriptions are handled by Google Play on Android and by the App Store on iPhone and iPad. We receive only what we need to unlock them (the product and its status), never your payment details. A purchase on one store does not carry over to the other.

Our weather access service

To get Apple WeatherKit forecasts, the app asks a small SugarApps service, hosted on Cloudflare, for a short-lived access token. That request does not include your location. Like any server, the service sees your IP address; we use it only to limit abuse, by keeping short-lived request counters.

To check that a request comes from a genuine copy of Dewline, the service may also verify proof from your device: Apple App Attest on iPhone and iPad, or Google Play Integrity on Android. For App Attest we keep a random key ID and its public key. None of this is linked to your name, and we use it for nothing else. Cloudflare may log requests under its own policy.

Sharing

We don't sell your personal information. It goes only to the service providers named in this policy, for the purposes described, or where the law requires it.

Security

Every connection the app makes is encrypted (HTTPS), and it holds no passwords or payment information.

Children

Dewline is not directed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect their information.

Your choices and rights

You can withdraw location or notification permission in your device settings, change ad consent in Settings › Privacy choices, reset your advertising ID (or turn off tracking on iPhone and iPad), or uninstall the app to remove everything stored on the device.

Depending on where you live (for example under the GDPR or the CCPA) you may have the right to access, correct or delete your information, or to object to its use. We hold no account or profile about you; for data held by the providers above, use their links, or write to us and we'll help.

Changes to this policy

When the app changes how it uses information, we update this policy and the date at the top. Significant changes are also noted in the app's release notes.
